Research

Research groups-Land Rights, Wildlife Rights, Governance Rights, Language Rights.  Form four groups by posting up sentence strips with these four headings on different sides of the room.  Invite students to stand under the title that they are most interested in learning about.  You will have to limit participation so that groups are of equal size.  Provide each group with a copy of the NLCA Plain Language document. Ask them to identify all the rights of Inuit.  Each group presents their findings back to the class. They should also indicate the relevance of these rights in their own opinions.

Groupes de recherche : droits fonciers, droits relatifs à la faune, droits de gouvernance, droits linguistiques. Formez quatre groupes et inscrivez ces quatre thèmes sur des bandelettes que vous afficherez dans différents coins de la classe. Invitez les élèves à se placer en dessous du titre qui les intéresse le plus. Vous devrez baliser la participation de manière à ce que les groupes soient de la même taille. Fournissez à chaque groupe une copie de l’ARTN en langage clair. Demandez-leur de répertorier tous les droits des Inuit. Chaque groupe fait part de ses découvertes au reste de la classe. Il doit aussi présenter son opinion quant à la pertinence de ces droits.
