What is an election?

Election is a process in which people vote to choose a person or group of people to
hold an official position. Elections are not held in the same way around the world.
Explain that they will find out more about elections through playing Bingo Scavenger
Hunt.

Give each student a Bingo Scavenger Hunt card BLM 3.6. Each student selects a
piece of information from the information strips Electoral Facts from Around the
World BLM 3.7 Students circulate in the classroom asking students to tell the
information on their strips. The student decides which box the information best fits
into and records the information.

When one straight line is recorded in any direction the student sits down. The student
does not share his/her information strip with other students he/she sits down.

Une élection est un processus par lequel la population vote pour assigner une
personne ou un groupe de personnes à un poste officiel. Les élections ne se tiennent
pas de la même manière partout dans le monde. Expliquez-leur qu’ils en apprendront
davantage sur les élections en participant au Tictactoe de la chasse au trésor.

Donnez à chaque élève une carte de Tictactoe pour la chasse au trésor (fiche 3.6).
Chaque élève choisit une information tirée des bandelettes portant sur des faits
électoraux à travers le monde (fiche 3.7). Les élèves circulent dans la classe en
demandant à leurs camarades de nommer l’information sur leur bandelette. L’élève
décide dans quelle case l’énoncé s’insère le mieux et note l’information fournie.

Une fois qu’une ligne est complétée, dans n’importe quelle direction, l’élève s’assoit.
L’élève ne partage pas sa bandelette d’information avec les autres élèves lorsqu’il
s’assoit.
